Bob Burt
Board Member
Bob Burt, an independent business consultant and contract scout for college athletics, has spent 21 years in the Fort Collins community. Bob attended Colorado State University from 1968-1972, and was a varsity tennis player in college. Throughout high school, Bob played multiple sports and then after college was a professional tennis player. He has also coached tennis, baseball, and basketball from youth all the way up to the college level. Bob, along with his wife Pam and sons Joshua and Brandon, enjoys spending time with his family, reading, traveling, hiking, and attending sporting events.
Bob joined CHAMP in 2008 and chairs the Heart of a Champion Senior Scholarship committee in addition to his board duties. Bob can be reached at bob.burt@champfc.com.
Matt Phillips
Board Member
Matt Phillips has lived in the Fort Collins since 1990. Matt graduated with a business finance degree and then a MBA from Colorado State University. Since graduation Matt has worked as a Certified Financial Professional with AXA Advisors. At CSU Matt played football for Sonny Lubick and was an Academic All-Conference Wide Receiver. Matt is married to Eileen, another former CSU athlete. They have two sons, Marcus and Julius. In his spare time Matt enjoys working out, running, and swimming with the kids. He is active in the 20/30 Club and is a member of the CSU Hall of Fame selection committee.
Matt joined the CHAMP in 2008 after attending the first CHAMP breakfast. He is the chairman of the Sonny Lubick Coach of Character Award committee and member of the board. Matt can be reached at matt.phillips@champfc.com.
Craig Moddelmog
President
Craig Moddelmog has lived in Fort Collins for 28 years. Craig has earned a business communications degree and received a masters in athletic administration from the University of Northern Colorado. Craig has been in the financial services industry the last 17 years, and currently owns and operates his own private wealth management firm, Cornerstone Wealth Management. As a high school athlete, Craig was an all-state football and baseball player at Fort Collins High School and was later an all-conference quarterback while playing football at Fort Hays State University. Craig is married to Tonya and has two children, C.J. and Liz Ann. Outside of work Craig enjoys “Family, Family, and Family”.

 Bob Parry
Commissioner
As a respected athlete, coach and teacher in Colorado for many years, Bob continues to positively impact countless individuals. Bob received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from CSU where he was ranked as one of the nation’s best middle distance runners achieving all-conference and all-American honors. Bob coached the Colorado State Rams for 16 years and was inducted into the CSU Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. When he was not at the track, Bob taught high school history for 33 years while also coaching at the high school level. He is married to Amy and has five beautiful children.
Bob joined CHAMP in 2008 and led the effort to train coaches. In July of 2010 upon retiring from his teaching duties, Bob assumed a new role as the CHAMP Commissioner, running the day-to-day activities and advancing the mission of CHAMP. Bob can be reached at coachparry@champfc.com.
Gina Gonzales
Board Member
In 2011 Gina Gonzales is one of three new CHAMP board members. Gina is a Colorado native and CSU graduate and has a deep connection with the Fort Collins and Larimer county communities. As a mother with numerous careers as a veterinary technician, horse trainer, bartender, and waitress Gina has moved 30 times, to seven states, and five countries. Currently a realtor, firefighter with Loveland Fire Rescue, Gina is married to Frank Gonzales the head baseball coach at Fort Collins High School. Gina brings a deep understanding of all of the dynamics involved in athletic sports... from t-ball to her husband Frank being drafted professionally, from a recreational soccer game to four 5A state baseball championships, from the scorekeeper, the trainer, the coach, the umpire/referee, the parent, and most importantly, the athlete. “The character values learned in athletics, and the life we learn to balance socially and academically, carries on throughout our lives, in how we live as professionals and human beings”, quotes Gina. CHAMP is excited to have Gina be a part of the CHAMP family.
Chip Beake
Vice President
CHAMP is honored to have "Coach" Chip Beake join the board in 2011 as Vice President. Chip is a graduate of Fort Collins High School (1988) and was named All-Conference and starting All-State QB while playing for the Lambkins. Having played collegiate football at the University of South Carolina, "Coach Beake" then went on to coach at The University of Kentucky, University of Oklahoma, Colorado School of Mines, MacPherson College KS, which brings to the CHAMP board more coaching experiences collegiately. In addition the CHAMP organization is proud to have a member of its "team" bring professional coaching experience. For 13 years as a NFL Coach: Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, Barcelona Dragons (NFL-Europe), and Amsterdam Admirals (NFL-Europe) Coach Beake has continued to build positive working relationship and networked his mentoring skills to another level. Currently Chip and his wife and children reside in Fort Collins and "Chip" works for State Farm Insurance Agency which is located in "Old Town" Fort Collins.
Angela Knopf
Board Member
Angela Knopf is a former professional volleyball player who now coaches and teaches math in the Fort Collins area. (http://www.high5tutoring.com/) and (http://www.angelaknopf.com/) She was recruited out of high school in Oregon to play for Colorado State University where she is still the school's only 2-time First Team Division I All-American. She was awarded academic all American (twice), the nations leader in hitting percentage (2001), the 1st Fum McGraw award at CSU (character and leadership) and was a top 10 finalist for NCAA woman of the Year. After college, Angela was invited to play on the USA Olympic team for 6 months and in 2005 she ventured out to Los Angeles, CA to play professional beach volleyball on the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) where her highest finish was a 7th. In 2006 Angela was also inducted into the Colorado State Hall of Fame. Although Angela has had a lot of experiences, nothing brings her more joy than to be able to share all she has learned with kids in her community of Fort Collins, CO. "I feel so blessed to be able to come back to Ft. Collins and invest in these great families and kids. I am grateful I was able to pursue my dreams to bring back my experience to help kids in this sport I love."
Matt Beck
Board Member
Matt Beck came to Fort Collins in 1992. After leaving a baseball scholarship at another school to attend CSU and play baseball, the program was discontinued that same year. Fort Collins felt like home and he stayed to graduate with a B.S. in Biological Science and also an M.B.A. in Finance & Accounting. After graduation, he married his wife Joliann, and today they have two children - Stone and Josianne. Matt is a Banker at Bank of Colorado. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his family, mountain biking, cycling, skiing, camping, and coaching baseball. Matt has coached in the Fort Collins Baseball Club since 2006. Matt's coaching and his team's ideals were recognized in 2010 when the Fort Collins Titans were named "CHAMP Elite Team Champions." After realizing that he and CHAMP shared many of the same beliefs and philosophies, he became more involved with the organization and was invited to be CHAMP's Treasurer in 2011. Matt is proud to be a member of the CHAMP team.
Dean Barber
Board Member
Dean has been on the McWhinney team since 2002, and he has over 15 years of experience in the real estate development industry. As the Vice President of Development, he oversees all facets of the McWhinney's commercial vertical development along the front range of Colorado, primarily focused on projects in McWhinneys' Centerra and North Park communities. He has experience in multiple building delivery processes including build-to- suits, leasebacks, turnkey, condominiums, and joint ventures. Since joining McWhinney, he has developed over 30 projects which total over 1,250,000 s.f. of commercial space. His experience in product types include build-to-suits, multi tenant office, medical office buildings, retail campuses, and light industrial business parks.
Jason Burkett
Board Member
Jason is a Financial Advisor with UBS in the Fort Collins, Colorado office. He was born and raised in Fort Collins, CO and is a graduate of Poudre High School and Colorado State University, majoring in Math with an actuarial science concentration. Jason worked as an Actuary in Chicago and Denver before moving back to Fort Collins in 2004 to raise his 3 boys, Triston, Llayon and Brady in wonderful Northern Colorado. Jason and his wife Julie love being part of the Fort Collins community. They enjoy spending time together and try to take advantage of all that Colorado has to offer; including hiking, camping, biking, and skiing. Jason also loves sports and enjoys coaching his son's sports teams including youth football, soccer and track.
